Jakes musical career has included writing and producing songs, theme and incidental music for BBC TV, Channel 4, Film4, songwriting commissions for BBC Worldwide, Hit & Run Music Publishing and many other multi-media clients.
Jake has appeared with Bjork for her MTV unplugged concert and performed live at high profile venues such as Ronnie Scotts London, Royal Festival Hall, Barbican and more. Jake performs around 150 gigs a year and runs the renowned voice coaching company 'Vocalwise'.
Steven Oates has worked as a Professional Bassist for over 15 years and continues to play all styles of music all over the world. He has a wealth of experience both live and in the studio as well as appearing in music videos, live radio and TV. He has toured, recorded and/or performed with companies/artists including Brian May and Julian Lennon, Delta Goodrum, David E. Sugar, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Amy Studt, Kelli Ali, Warner Chappell Publishing, Sony Music, XFM and Universal.
Josh is the youngest member of our trio yet has already covered a lot of ground. A talented drummer and all round musician. He has performed with world famous popular Jazz artist Jamie Cullum, Ronnie Scott's All Stars and the Denmark Street Big Band. He has also performed at high profile venues such as Ronnie Scotts, The Royal Opera House Covent Garden, London Astoria, Cheltenham Jazz Festival and The 606 Club.
I grew up listening to people like Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, Ray Charles - maybe unusual for a teenager in the early eighties but hey! It takes all sorts doesn't it... I moved on to a much wider range of music. My truest musical love is the heart-warming sound of those 4 natural instruments - piano, double bass, drums and the singing voice... I believe everyone resonates to the simple genius of the natural chemistry created through these instruments.
When I chose the line-up for this band, I was spoilt for choice. All of the people I make music with are exceptional musicians and good friends. I was looking for musicians with whom I shared a focus and passion for creating something beautiful, energetic and heartfelt. We love the sound we make, and this comes through in the atmosphere when we share the pleasure of performing for you. Every single time I sit at a piano and sing a song, I know how lucky I am to have the opportunity to do this as my day job! When we play people so often say to me "you look like you're really enjoying the music..." We will always give you 100% because this is the only way we can do our job. It is our pleasure!
